New Voices Programs
Creating New Voices
New Voices seeks to bring recognition, confidence and dignity to individuals within Cincinnati’s diverse community through artistic expression. Programs began in 2009 with service learning collaborations between Cincinnati high school students and community organizations. As students learned from their community partners and vice versa, new points of view through direct community experience and conversation were developed and crystallized in the form of photo exhibits and publications which punctuated each collaboration.

Current Programs
New Voices currently provides programs directly to clients of community organizations to support their individual growth through artistic expression. Current programming focuses on supporting newly arrived members of our community as they seek to build new lives in their adopted country.
Current Partners
Catholic Charities of Southwestern Ohio
Beginning in the summer of 2024 and continuing through the spring of 2025, clients of CCSWO’s Refugee Resettlement and Su Casa programs participated in a photo workshop provided by New Voices. Clients used point and shoot cameras to document their experiences and impressions of their newly adopted country. After selecting favorite images, clients shared their thoughts about their experiences in recorded interviews which became part of the printed exhibition of photography.
Work from this program titled New American Neighbors was presented at Catholic Charities’ immigration awareness event at Hebrew Union College in April, 2025 and was subsequently shown at the Xavier University Art Gallery in November, 2025 and at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center in January, 2026.

Santa Maria Community Services, Latina Women’s Group
New Voices met throughout the winter and spring of 2025 with Santa Maria’s Latina Women’s Group to explore identity and the immigration experience of families from various Latin American countries who have spent from a few to over 25 years living in the US. The group captured day to day life as well as documented historic sites in Cincinnati. The program culminated with an exhibit of work and accompanying catalog displayed at Santa Maria’s annual luncheon in October, 2025. This program will continue through 2026.
